Someone notified me that I sent them an email message that contained a virus, but I didn't send them anything, what happened?
One of two things has occured.
1. Your computer is infected with a virus. The virus is automatically sending out email messages to contacts in your address book or contact list in the background.
2. Some email viruses will attempt to disguise their point of origin by changing the Reply-To field in the message to an email address contained in the infected computer's address book or contact list. This gives the apperance that the virus came from a third party (you). You can determine who the message was actually sent from by viewing the Internet Headers of the message. To view the Internet Headers In Outlook, click on the View Menu and select Options. The view the Internet Headers in Outlook Express, click on the File menu, select Properties, and select the Detail tab.
We highly recommend that you purchase an anti-virus program, keep the virus definitions up to date and use the program regularly. Most viruses today are spread by email.
