  • When I try to send email, I get the following error message. Why can't I send mail?

  • "The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.pelcohost.net', Server: 'mail.pelcohost.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"
  • When sending outgoing email, your computer connects to our mail server, which then forwards your email to the correct mail server on the Internet. Due to the increase in unsolicited email, or spam, many of the large ISPs, such as MSN, are blocking outgoing mail traffic. If you see this error, then your ISP may be blocking outgoing mail traffic in an effort to reduce the unsolicited emails being sent from their servers.
  • In order to correct this, you must send your outgoing email to your ISP's mail server, instead of pelcohost's mail server. If you use Outlook or Outlook Express to access email, then take the following steps:
  • • Select Accounts from the Tools menu.
  • • Click on the name of your pelcohost email account and select the Properties button.
  • • Click on the Servers tab.
  • • In the field named Outgoing Mail (SMTP):, replace mail.pelcohost.net with the name of your ISP's SMTP server. For example, the mail server for MSN is smtp.email.msn.com.
  • Your ISP's SMTP server may require that you login in order to send mail from an email domain other than their own. In this case, then do the following:
  • • Check the box that reads My server requires authentication.
  • • Click on the Settings button.
  • • Click Log on using.
  • • Enter the Account name and Password that you use to login to your ISP.
