  • Why was a message that I sent not received?

  • There are a variety of reasons why an email message might not be received by the recipient.
  • • Bad Email Address: The most common cause is an invalid email address. Double check the spelling of the email address in the message to ensure that it is correct. Contact the recipient to verify that you have the correct email address. Store email addresses in your email software to avoid retyping them for each message.
  • • Receiving Mail Server Down: The recipient's email server may be down or unavailable. If this is the case, our mail server will keep trying to contact the recipient's mail server for a few days, then will notify you if it is not able to.
  • • Virus: The email contained a virus and was quarantined by the mail server. Email is a very popular way of spreading viruses. Be sure to use a virus scanner on your computer and keep it updated with the latest virus definitions.
  • • PDF & EPS Files: PDF and EPS files can be mistaken for a virus by some virus scanners. Use WinZip or StuffIt to compress any PDF or EPS files before you attach them to an email message.
  • • Large Attachments: The attachments were too large and the message was rejected by the recipient's mail server. To avoid this, compress your files before attaching them to your email or use FTP, Instant Messaging or your web site to share files.
